We discuss how technology has been used across the spectrum of ED care, evaluate the evidence base for existing technologies in ED care, and address key ethical considerations in applications of technology to support individuals with EDs. Emerging topics in the field and anticipated challenges related to advancing technology and integrating modern tools into evidence-based ED care are also discussed.

Preliminary evidence for psychedelics (eg, psilocybin) highlight their potential to enhance cognitive flexibility and support psychological interventions in some eating disorders (eg, anorexia nervosa). Stimulants like lisdexamfetamine offer benefits for binge-eating disorder, while medications for avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder and bulimia nervosa remain understudied. The study underscores the need for robust clinical trials to evaluate these approaches and advocates for integrating novel treatments into existing therapeutic frameworks to address the complex biological and psychological dimensions of eating disorders.

When diagnosing ARFID, it is important to assess a range of ARFID symptoms that result in diminished dietary variety and/or intake (eg, food selectivity, fears of eating-related physical sensations, low appetite) and associated consequences (eg, psychosocial impairment, malnutrition) as well as symptoms of other disorders that may better account for ARFID symptoms. Although there are currently no "gold-standard" ARFID treatments, existing treatments to date involve regularization of eating, exposure to physical sensations and/or novel/feared foods, and caregiver/familial involvement when appropriate.

However, experts express concern about the potential for GLP-1 medications to cause unintended harm or be misused among some individuals with eating disorders (EDs). The present review describes the state of the science surrounding use of GLP-1 medications in EDs, identifies key knowledge gaps, offers a roadmap for future studies on this topic, and provides clinical guidance to support the careful assessment and treatment of patients with EDs who may be considering the use of a GLP-1 medication.

It highlights shared risk factors such as body image pressures and interpersonal stress, while also addressing unique cultural influences, barriers to care, and the need for tailored interventions. The article discusses specific considerations for Asian, Black, Indigenous, Latine, and multiracial/multiethnic populations, emphasizing the importance of culturally-informed treatment approaches, community engagement, and addressing systemic disparities. Overall, it advocates for integrating cultural sensitivity and intersectionality into research and clinical practice to improve ED outcomes for marginalized groups.

Disparities are linked to unique marginalization and sociocultural processes that intersect to produce poorer psychological well-being. However, few advancements have been made in culturally responsive intervention efforts, and LGBTQ+ people often report stigmatizing ED treatment experiences. Here, the authors present the current state of such efforts and more broadly aim to synthesize various care recommendations and recent empirical studies into a cohesive set of practical clinical recommendations in the absence of widely available tailored interventions.

The literature on sleep and eating disorders is relatively new, and there are few controlled trials testing if sleep disorder interventions work in populations with eating disorders. Furthermore, it is unknown how sleep disorder interventions can be adapted for clients with eating disorders. In this article, we provide an overview of sleep disorders that clinicians may encounter and an overview of evidence-based treatments for sleep disorders, with a focus on psychological and behavioral interventions.

Unfortunately, no empirically supported treatments or established protocols currently exist for the integrated treatment of these disorders. This article will review the co-occurrence of ED and SUD, the similarities and differences between ED and SUD, the complex challenges associated with treating this comorbid population, the basic elements of creating an integrated treatment plan, roadblocks and opportunities, and discuss the experimental treatments currently under investigation. The article will finish with recommendations for future training and research.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Maudsley anorexia nervosa treatment for adults, and specialist supportive clinical management are comparably efficacious and recommended first for adults with AN. Family-based treatment is superior to individual psychotherapies and should be the first-line treatment for children/adolescents with AN/BN. CBT is superior to other psychotherapies and is the recommended first-line treatment for adults with BN/BED. For children/adolescents with BED, CBT is likely efficacious based on growing evidence and is recommended by several practice guidelines.

Conducting neurodevelopmental assessments in primary care could aid early detection and intervention for developmentally vulnerable children, but systemic issues like limited workforce scope and capacity, limited remuneration for the time required, and lack of culturally-responsive approaches make it challenging. Three case studies demonstrate how the Tracking Cube, a culturally-responsive model of care co-designed with a remote First Nations community, can be used to identify children with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders within primary care.

We begin by presenting the available evidence for the effectiveness of school-based mental health screening. We then report on its acceptability among stakeholders with discussion of the barriers and logistical considerations required to successfully deliver screening in schools. Finally, we present a case example of the national student mental health check-in tool, My Mind Check, developed and being implemented in Australian schools.

However, several barriers prevent children and families from receiving timely access to evidence-based care. Parent training in ERP, integrated into multi-technology programs, offers an innovative approach to maintain therapeutic support by training parents to implement ERP at home, overcoming delays to accessing care. These programs have demonstrated preliminarily effectiveness, acceptability, and feasibility, and provide families with treatment when and where they need it most.

In this article, we provide an overview of the program, and a description of the training and implementation support process we adopted for the field. Drawing from implementation science, we describe the implementation strategies and outcomes that inform this work. We conclude with a description of training events for practitioners in (i) Central Australia working with Aboriginal families and (ii) with mothers in residential mother and child facility in the Republic of Ireland.

Left untreated, anxiety symptoms show a worsening trajectory into adulthood and increase the functional impact of the core autism symptoms. Innovative treatment approaches such as Internet-CBT adapted for autistic youth demonstrate preliminary effectiveness in symptom reduction while overcoming barriers and increasing accessibility. Insights and considerations regarding the development of the Learning to Understand and Navigate Anxiety for Adolescents (LUNA-Adolescent) program are presented as a promising approach to treatment for autistic adolescents and their families.

It examines OCD's progression from initial symptoms to chronic illness, highlighting the impact of delayed treatment and the need for early, stage-specific care. The article presents a scalable treatment framework, from lifestyle modifications in early stages to advanced therapies for severe cases. This model aims to improve access to effective care, enhance adherence, and prevent chronicity, offering a more personalized approach to OCD management.

Organized sport programs provide a unique opportunity to reach young people "where they are" with mental health and well-being programs. This article reviews the relevant literature on interventions that target the promotion of mental health and well-being among youth in organized sports programs, research that incorporates strengths-based approaches in sports, and studies that are more comprehensive, which include screening and intervention that target physical well-being, personal attributes and character strengths, and mental health symptom management within youth sports programs.

While evidence-based management strategies and treatments are available, access remains limited. There has been a proliferation in the development of digital tools and programs addressing adolescent sleep problems in recent years. This review provides a synthesis of the current literature on assessment, treatment, and digital interventions for adolescent sleep, outlining key challenges and areas for future research needed to advance this field of knowledge and practice.

Stepped-care models (SCMs) provide one innovative solution by offering patients initial access to low-intensity treatment options and "stepping-up" those who remain symptomatic. Most youth-focused SCMs have been developed for specific diagnoses, failing to account for the high comorbidities and undifferentiated symptom profiles common at this age. In response, transdiagnostic SCMs have emerged, focused on treating shared mechanisms of youth psychopathology through use of common evidence-based treatment elements. Although available studies are showing early promise, additional research is needed.
