OBJECTIVE: to analyze the relationship between the knowledge, prevention, attitudes and opinion of nursing professionals in adult intensive care units regarding COVID-19 and their sociodemographic and work characteristics. METHOD: cross-sectional, analytical study. 124 nursing professionals who worked in adult intensive care units after the COVID-19 pandemic were included. To measure the variables, the Awareness, Attitudes, Prevention and Perceptions of COVID-19 Outbreak among Nurses questionnaire was used. To identify differences between the groups, the following tests were used: Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U, Pearson correlation, and multiple analysis in logistic regression for each dimension. RESULTS: participants with a workplace in private institutions showed a tendency towards better scores in awareness OR=3.92 (95%CI:1.50; 10.25), in prevention OR=8.93 (95%CI:3.12; 25.565), in attitude OR=2.77 (95%CI: 1.16; 6.58) and in perception with an OR= 19.65 (95%CI: 5.85; 65.94). In attitude, male participants showed a better result with OR=3.31 (95%CI: 1.18; 9.23) and in relation to perception, those who showed the best results were those with postgraduate studies as specialists OR=7.60 (95%CI: 1.73; 33.23). CONCLUSION: working in a private institution and having a postgraduate specialization degree were related to better scores in the dimensions of the scale. BACKGROUND: (1) Years of experience presented a positive correlation with knowledge. (2) High levels of awareness, practices, prevention and opinions were obtained. (3) Professionals with specialization have higher COVID-19 KAB scores. (4) Older nursing professionals tended to have lower scores in the dimensions of the instrument (knowledge, prevention, attitude and opinion). (5) The pandemic period improves knowledge and practices in nursing.

OBJECTIVE: to verify the internal and structural consistency of the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory in young undergraduate nursing students. METHOD: this is a cross-sectional methodological study carried out with young university students enrolled in the undergraduate Nursing course at a public university. Data was obtained by means of a sociodemographic/academic questionnaire and the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory. The analysis used Pearson's correlation, Cronbach's alpha, intraclass correlation, t-test and chi-square ratio and degrees of freedom, as well as confirmatory factor analysis to test the consistency of the existence of the bifactor model. RESULTS: the sample consisted of 305 undergraduates. The oblique bifactor model showed statistical indicators that justify the consistency of the bifactor structure of sexism in the study's target population. In addition, the psychometric indicators of the inventory showed satisfactory results. The predictive regression analysis confirmed the structure, demonstrating its consistency and robustness for assessing both hostile sexism and benevolent sexism among young university nursing students. CONCLUSION: support for the theory of ambivalent sexism was identified, reflecting the consistency of the oblique bifactor model. The analysis of the psychometric properties of the inventory, including validity and reliability, reinforces its applicability and relevance in research on gender issues in the health area. BACKGROUND: (1) Phlebitis was the most prevalent complication. (2) Pressure in the bag was associated with catheter removal before indication. (3) Length of stay and use of sedation were related to the onset of phlebitis.

UNLABELLED: to analyze the relationship between the exercise of authentic leadership by coordinators and job satisfaction among professors of undergraduate nursing courses at federal public universities. this is a quantitative study with an observational, analytical, and cross-sectional design. Twelve undergraduate nursing courses at public higher education institutions were chosen to participate in the study. The information collected was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, Spearman's correlation test, and binary logistic regression analysis, with a 5% significance level. the sample consisted of 179 professors who completed the Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire, and the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire. The professors rated the course coordinators as having high levels of authentic leadership practice. As for the binary logistic regression, only the Relational and Moral domain showed significance (p-value < 0.0001), indicating that when this domain is present, there is a 5.48-fold increase in the chance of professors being satisfied. the results of the study indicate that the job satisfaction of professors in undergraduate nursing courses is influenced by the practice of authentic leadership on the part of the coordinators. BACKGROUND: (1) Advances in the practice of authentic leadership in educational management. (2) The instruments used are useful for assessing leadership and satisfaction. (3) Relationships between authentic leadership and job satisfaction were identified. (4) Measuring authentic leadership and job satisfaction in the educational environment.

UNLABELLED: to understand the meaning of care for women in the pregnancy-puerperium cycle from the perspective of health professionals in the light of complexity thinking. qualitative research anchored in the theoretical assumptions of complexity thinking: inseparability, complementarity and interconnectedness. Twenty-three professionals in the field of maternal and child health from the southern region of Brazil took part. The data was collected through individual interviews and analyzed using the thematic analysis technique. the three themes of analysis were the inseparability of care for pregnant women and puerperal women in the complexity of being a woman and a mother; the complementarity of care for women in the pregnancy-puerperal cycle; the interconnectedness of professional knowledge and practices. the meaning of care for women in the pregnancy-puerperium cycle, as understood by professionals, is associated with an integral understanding of the woman - pregnant woman, puerperal woman, mother, as an indivisible unit. BACKGROUND: (1) Pregnant and postpartum women are conceived in the indivisible complexity of being a woman and a mother (2) It suggests overcoming reductionist and simplifying approaches. (3) It signals interprofessional ruptures and advances. (4) It indicates multi-professional movements in maternal and child health. (5) It supports complexity thinking as a relevant and current reference.

UNLABELLED: to analyze the vaccination status of individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes in Primary Healthcare. cross-sectional, analytical study conducted in 25 Family Health teams with 274 individuals with diabetes. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were evaluated, as well as the full vaccination schedule for each vaccine recommended by the National Immunization Program, through bivariate analysis and logistic regression. among individuals with diabetes mellitus, the following incomplete vaccination rates were found: 69.1% for hepatitis B; 64.6% for diphtheria and tetanus; 74.3% for yellow fever; 87.9% for pneumococcus; 87.9% for varicella; 24.5% for influenza; and 0.7% for COVID-19. The reported reasons for low vaccination rates included not knowing the importance of vaccination and not being informed by healthcare providers. A statistically significant association was found between sociodemographic and clinical profile regarding the full vaccination schedule between the influenza vaccine and age and income; COVID-19 and age, type of diabetes and duration of diabetes. individuals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes treated in Primary Healthcare showed low vaccination rates, which is concerning due to increased vulnerability to vaccine-preventable infections and mortality within this group. BACKGROUND: (1) Individuals with diabetes have low vaccination rates. (2) It is essential to provide vaccination opportunities in health services for individuals with diabetes. (3) Education for vaccine-prescribing professionals is necessary. (4) Young people are less likely to get vaccinated than older adults. (5) It is essential to understand the predisposing factors related to vaccination status.

UNLABELLED: to evaluate the evidence on the use of Donald Kirkpatrick's framework in nursing training evaluation. integrative literature review in the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System and Web of Science databases. Studies that answered the review question "Which is the evidence in using Donald Kirkpatrick's framework to evaluate training in the nursing workplace?" published in Portuguese, English, or Spanish were included. out of 108 studies retrieved, thirteen were included. The majority evaluated the four levels proposed in the model (reaction, learning, behavior, and results) or, at least, a combination of the first three ones. Different instruments were used to evaluate nursing training, mainly in quantitative approaches for reaction and learning levels and qualitative for behavior and results levels. This approach highlights the flexibility of the model and the importance of choosing a reliable set of instruments, which is crucial to qualify the analysis at each level. Kirkpatrick's model has been used worldwide to evaluate training in the nursing field and has been shown to be suitable for it, as long as there is an appropriate selection of instruments at each level. BACKGROUND: (1) Kirkpatrick's framework is effective for evaluating various nursing training. (2) The framework upholds the choice of measuring instruments for each level. (3) The four-levels or a combination of the first three were the most commonly used to evaluate training. (4) The four-levels or a combination of the first three were the most common to evaluate training. (5) Evaluation of results in organizational practices is the most challenging level.

METHOD: a descriptive phenomenological study was carried out. The data collection was conducted by means of depth- interviews to 20 general nurses from the emergency and clinical medicine departments from the Atlántida General Hospital. Data analysis was by thematic technique. RESULTS: the research found three key themes, and 10 subthemes, which illustrated the quality of stroke patients care in a general hospital from Honduras. The finding points up the theme "negative outcomes regarding the structure dimension of the patient care units", which means the failure to improve or maintain the quality of healthcare. Likewise, "positive outcomes regarding the nursing process", defined as pleasant and helpful among the care of stroke patients, such as ethical and humanized caring, and activities on promoting patient self-care with involvement of the relatives. CONCLUSION: the results indicate that Honduran nurses do not have qualified graduate training in critical care, which is a limitation that compromises the quality of care. Therefore, it is recommended to have clear organization structures and better resources managing, consequently, it may increase user satisfaction, as well as reducing hospital stays.

OBJECTIVE: to demonstrate the sizing of intensive care nursing staff estimated by two calculations, using the Nursing Activities Score as one of its central components. METHOD: descriptive, retrospective study that compiled the Nursing Activities Score scores of patients in five Intensive Care Units of a hospital in southern Brazil. Two calculations were used to size the nursing staff. In addition to other components, calculation I converted the Nursing Activities Score into minutes and hours; and calculation II used this score on a denominator corresponding to one nursing professional/day, considering two types of work shifts. In both equations, the proportion of 52% of nurses was respected. RESULTS: in the 9,610 evaluations, the mean of Nursing Activities Score was 85.9% (80.8% to 96.4%). While calculation I estimated 164 professionals, calculation II projected 176 and 140 workers for five and four shifts, respectively. The difference in nurses between the methods was 18 professionals. CONCLUSION: the choice of the calculation and the number of work shifts substantially interfere in the estimation of intensive care nursing staff. This may support a methodological review in the standardization of nursing sizing in this area.

Ten databases and four platforms referring to gray literature were included. Studies were selected after duplicates were removed and individual and peer reviews were carried out. Similarity analysis was used to identify competition between words and their results. 20 studies on VR for the elderly were mapped, the majority of which used non-immersive devices. The main purpose of using VR with the elderly is to improve and/or rehabilitate functions that decline with aging, either physiologically or as a result of illness or injury. VR devices are a potential tool for the prevention of falls and cognitive decline and favor the performance of instrumental activities of daily living. Similarity analysis resulted in the generation of a maximum tree, which identified the interrelationship between the terms "virtual reality" and "elderly" as the central and intermediate elements, respectively. it is recommended that further studies be carried out in other environments, which could allow for a wider use of VR by health professionals, especially nurses, in the care provided to the elderly.

Data were obtained from an online questionnaire. Questions about the time and pattern of daily use of smartphones and tablets were collected. We calculated the overall percentage (and 95% confidence interval) and median (and interquartile range) of each device's use time and according to the variables associated with the child, and the respondent's characteristics. an estimated 44.7% (95% CI: 37; 51) of children used both smartphones and/or tablets daily. The median use time for smartphones and tablets separately was 30 minutes per day for smartphones (8.6-38.6) and 30 (17.1- 60.0) for tablet. In children who have free access to the devices, 11.6% (95% CI: 6; 16) use these devices up to 30 minutes after waking up on weekdays, 15.4% (95% CI: 10; 21) during weekends and 14.0% (95% CI: 8; 19) use smartphone and/or tablet up to 1 hour before going to bed. more than 4 out of 10 children in our sample used smartphones and/or tablets daily. Community nursing may be a viable avenue for implementing educational programs focused on promoting healthy practices in children's electronic device usage given the pattern of excessive screen use in the pediatric population.

Data was collected using an intentional sample of five transsexual men, selected on the basis of convenience and availability. The interviews were transcribed in full and the results were organized and adapted to the Sunrise Model. the majority of the participants were «primiparous» and had given birth by cesarean section. In adapting the Sunrise Model, we observed the encouragement of medicalization and mechanistic management of childbirth; fear of natural childbirth; violence perpetrated against transsexual men resulting from the difficulty of access to information by the pregnant man, and obstetric care not qualified to meet the needs of the public, resulting in fragile care, with dissatisfaction with the health service. the experiences of transsexual men during childbirth and the postpartum period are a mixture of experiences that generate damage, especially when linked to situations of transphobic violence and violation of rights.
