In France, the Assize Court is a departmental criminal court with jurisdiction to try, at first instance or on appeal, persons accused of committing a crime punishable by more than 20 years' imprisonment, i.e., the most severe penalties. Crimes are the most serious offenses. The Assize Court is composed of professional judges and citizens selected at random, known as jurors. The latter form the jury. Jurors, who are discovering criminal justice from the inside, may be all the more psychologically affected by the elements of these criminal trials because the proceedings are oral and they have no knowledge of the cases before the hearings in which they sit.

As trainers at the nursing training institute (Ifsi) at the Rouen Normandy University Hospital Center (CHU), we have developed a program to support students in building self-confidence, a crucial factor in their well-being during training, learning, and the development of their professional identity. Based on the observation that students are vulnerable to the challenges of training, a survey was conducted to identify needs and develop this project. The project, which takes the form of workshops designed to develop self-esteem, emotional regulation, and assertive communication, has already borne fruit, as initial feedback highlights a beneficial impact on the development of assertiveness among the students concerned, paving the way for new perspectives in terms of support.
