A major public health issue in France, coronary artery disease requires care that involves support at every stage of its progression. Working in intensive care, conventional cardiology, and post-hospitalization units at a public hospital in Seine-Saint-Denis, four healthcare professionals-three registered nurses (RNs) and one advanced practice nurse (APN)-describe the demanding nature of their work in the cardiology department. Technical, interpersonal, and educational, their roles are multifaceted, enriched, and complemented by close collaboration with the APN, among other factors.

The use of therapy dogs in hospitals to promote the well-being of patients and healthcare professionals is an innovative concept. The objective of this cross-sectional observational study using a questionnaire is to describe the impact of their presence on hospital staff. The majority of participants reported positive effects: a more humanizing environment, emotional support, and a sense of lightheartedness. The survey also shows an improvement in working conditions, suggesting that a structured model for integrating dogs can serve as a lever for improving staff well-being.
