Strain is the norm even outside of exceptional public health situations. The onset of a surge - whether massive or overwhelming - regardless of its duration, requires adjustments, some of which must be anticipated. We present an original model of hospital-private practice synergy at the heart of crisis management. The discharge coordination center, or PRS, appears to be an effective adjustment tool for facilitating early patient discharge and thereby freeing up hospital beds.

In the face of a persistent shortage of kidney transplants, transplant centers are working to increase access to transplants through living donation and, more recently, through cross-donation. In France, a "record-breaking" cross-donation involving four "donor-recipient" pairs has already been successfully carried out. Nurse coordinators play a central role in drafting and organizing coordination procedures to ensure that the surgery can take place on schedule.

Conservative management is a recognized option for treating advanced chronic kidney disease without the need for dialysis, focusing on quality of life and symptom control. In France, the guidelines published in 2022 by the Francophone Society of Nephrology, Dialysis, and Transplantation serve as a practical reference for this approach. Based on continuity and coordination of care, this management model assigns nurses a central role in clinical assessment, patient support, and care pathway coordination.

Given the shortage of kidney transplants from deceased donors, living donation has emerged as a key pathway to transplantation. However, donor-recipient incompatibilities, particularly ABO incompatibility, pose a significant immunological barrier. Desensitization protocols, which remove the antibodies responsible for these incompatibilities, are an increasingly common method used to address this issue. Rigorous organization of these pre-transplant protocols is necessary to optimize the transplant, and nurse coordinators are the cornerstone of this process.

Since May 2023, the Caen University Hospital has developed an innovative program for the placement of percutaneous peritoneal dialysis catheters in a dedicated area outside the operating room. This approach is transforming medical and nursing practices, streamlining care delivery times, and empowering teams. Nurses play a central role-both technical and clinical-and are fully involved in ensuring the safety of the patient's care pathway.

The introduction of the "chronic kidney disease" care package has strengthened the role of registered nurses (IDE) in the care pathway for adult patients. By becoming involved early in monitoring, prevention, coordination, and support, state-certified nurses and advanced practice nurses help improve patients' quality of life and slow the progression of the disease.

Chronic kidney disease progresses gradually, often without symptoms, toward chronic kidney failure, with the rate of progression varying from patient to patient. Management of the condition relies on monitoring glomerular filtration rate and anticipating complications. The care pathway involves numerous healthcare professionals and relies on shared decision-making, patient education, and enhanced coordination in advanced stages. The goal is to prevent emergencies and, when necessary, prepare an appropriate renal replacement therapy (dialysis, transplantation, or conservative management).

Palliative care is still too often associated solely with the terminal phase, whereas it constitutes a comprehensive philosophy of care focused on the patient's quality of life, subjectivity, and dignity. This article provides a systematic and clinical overview of the medical, psychological, ethical, and organizational components of palliative care, with a view to understanding how this approach can support people in their fragile state, anticipate loss of autonomy, and preserve continuity in the caregiver-patient relationship. It highlights the need for interdisciplinary coordination and a care approach that recognizes the therapeutic value of conversation, presence, and connection.

In light of changes in the healthcare system and growing pressure on medical resources, cooperation protocols are an essential tool for adapting healthcare organizations. They allow, on an exceptional basis, the delegation of activities or procedures between healthcare professionals in order to improve the flow of care and access to treatment. It is in this context that the protocol allowing a specially trained state-registered nurse to perform the recording and pre-interpretation of a transthoracic echocardiogram, prior to validation by a cardiologist, has found its place.

To train competent future professionals, instructors at nursing training institutes (IFSI) rely on diverse and innovative teaching methods. Structured objective clinical assessment is one of the approaches used to evaluate students' skills. The results of an experiment conducted at the Ifsi of the Rouen-Normandy University Hospital Center highlight the importance of continuing to use this method. It promotes skill development and reinforces a sense of personal effectiveness.
