Aim: To translate and examine the psychometric properties of the Measurement of Midwifery Quality - MMAY postpartum in a sample of postpartum women in Greece. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: After officially translating the questionnaire, we conducted a cross-sectional study in three public and one private obstetric clinic in Greece. The questionnaires were distributed to postpartum women at the time of discharge from the clinics. The sample comprised 214 postpartum women, from January to May 2024). Data analysis was performed using SPSS v.29 and AMOS. RESULTS: Results: Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis supported a three-factor structure of the MMAY postpartum with 13 items divided into three subscales: Trusting Relationship, Personal Control, and Orientation and Security. These factors correspond with high accuracy to the original version. Cronbach's Alpha value was .726 for the entire scale, .727 for the Trusting Relationship subscale, .691 for the Personal Control subscale, and .862 for the Orientation and Security subscale, indicating acceptable to good internal consistency reliability. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The Greek version of the MMAY postpartum is reliable, easy to administer, and can be used to measure the quality of midwifery care and satisfaction with the quantity of care in Greek-speaking postpartum women. Furthermore, it is suitable for both clinical use in daily practice and research purposes, underscoring the necessity for the cultural adaptation of the scale in other languages and countries.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: The aim of the study was evaluation of the methionine-enkephalin in patients with severe COVID-19 with various activities of the renin-aldosterone system in comparison with COVID-19 patients with pre-existing comorbidities (renal cell cancer, critical limb ischemia) and adverse pregnancy outcomes.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: To test our hypothesis, this case-control study consisted of 20 healthy donors (control group); 49 patients with a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 according to PCR analysis; 15 patients with a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 in combination with renal cell cancer; 29 patients with a positive diagnosis of COVID-19 in combination with critical limb ischemia, 10 pregnant womens with COVID-19. Methionine-enkephalin, plasma renin activity, plasma aldosterone was measured by radioimmunoassay. Statistical and graphical analyses were done using Statistica 7.0 StatSoft software and using MedCalc. RESULTS: Results: As our results have shown, hyperreninemia against the background of hypoaldosteronism and inhibition of enkephalinergic activity is fatal for COVID-19 patients. In COVID-19 patients with renal cell carcinoma, met-enkephalin, aldsterone, and plasma renin activity also showed a high predictive value for mortality. Whereas in patients with critical limb ischemia the strongest predictor biomarkers of mortality were only renin plasma activity. In conditions of physiological hyperreninemia during pregnancy, met-enkephalin acts as a biomarker for preterm birth, and in pregnant patients with COVID-19, plasma renin activity acts as such a biomarker. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: We found that in different categories of patients with COVID-19, the severity and outcome depend on the different activity of the renin-angiotensinaldosterone and enkephalinergic systems.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To study the psychological peculiarities of the manifestation of leadership qualities by modern managers of police organizations.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The research conducted in 2022-2024 involved 64 mid-level managers of police organizations and 462 officers from police units directly subordinated to these managers. Research methods: bibliosemantic, psychological and diagnostic, system analysis and generalization method, statistical. RESULTS: Results: It has been found that a significant number of modern mid-level managers of police organizations are not inclined to show leadership in their units. It has been found that 15,6% of today's mid-level managers demonstrate low leadership. The average level of leadership qualities was recorded in 50,0% of managers, and this result generally coincides with the opinion of officers (51,1%). A sufficient level of leadership qualities of managers, which ensures the effectiveness of their management activities, was identified in 34,4% of respondents. It has been determined that a third of the respondents in both groups (35,9% of managers; 33,3% of officers) believe that the efficiency of management activities is above average and can be improved through various measures and means. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The obtained results indicate the practicality of using an integrated approach to developing leadership qualities and skills of successful team management (at the subsequent stages of work with personnel). Also this indicates problems in the organization of professional selection and psychological support of police managers.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: The purpose of this study is to comprehensively assess the workload of general practitioners using the time study and the WISN method.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: Time studies are used to assess the objective workload of physicians, by measuring the duration of physicians' activities, and the WISN method, which is based on the workload of a health care professional and determines how many health care professionals of a certain type are needed to cope with the workload of a given health care facility. RESULTS: Results: The results show that general practitioners spend short period of time for one patient visits, which may be conditioned by high patient attendance. In addition, general practitioners perform unusual functional duties. When calculated based on the Republican standard, the needs assessment by the WISN method showed that there is a shortage of general practitioners in outpatient clinics. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The needs assessment for the first and second scenarios shows that general practitioners cope with the workload of receiving patients, so the WISN assessment shows that there is a surplus of general practitioners.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To compare the results of surgical treatment of patients with acute lower limb artery occlusion with and without intraoperative angiography.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: Comparative analysis was conducted on the surgical treatment outcomes of 119 patients with acute lower limb artery occlusion treated at the Vascular Surgery Center of the Clinical Hospital ≪Feofaniya≫ State Administrative Department from 2017 to 2022. The enrolled patients were divided into two groups: A - 70 (58,8%) patients, underwent open thrombectomy with Fogarty catheters in order to correct the acute lower limb ischemia; B - 49 (41,2%) patients, underwent open thrombectomy with Fogarty catheters followed by control intraoperative angiography. Based on the angiography results after thrombectomy, balloon angioplasty, open surgical interventions on the arteries, or thrombectomy alone were performed. The follow-up period was 12 months after the initial intervention. RESULTS: Results: The cases of thrombectomy with positive immediate results tended to be higher in group B, as compared to the group A: 98,0% vs. 88,6%, respectively (p=0,080). The annual rate of recurrent artery occlusion was significantly higher in group A patients than in group B patients - 30,7% versus 8,3% (p<0,001), suggesting the benefits of the aforementioned approach at 12-months follow-up period. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The use of intraoperative angiography and arterial interventions, when indicated, during thrombectomy for acute lower limb artery occlusion significantly reduces the rate of recurrent arterial occlusive events over the 12-months observation period.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: To analyze the results of the application of extracorporeal detoxification methods in the treatment of drug poisoning and their complications.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The studied data of 129 patients aged 18-46 years with severe drug poisoning treated at the Kyiv toxicological center in 2010-2020. Statistical analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.0.0 program; Kaplan-Meier method, log-rank test, p<0,05. RESULTS: Results: Patients who started receiving renal replacement therapy 24-36 hours after hospitalization had the highest Kaplan-Meier survival rates. The Kaplan-Meier hazard ratio for death shows that the chances of survival progressively decrease from the 48th to the 72nd hour from the moment of admission of patients to hospital, and this trend is observed in patients with both anuria and oliguria. There was a statistically significant difference in Kaplan-Meier survival in patients receiving selective hemoperfusion on the background of renal replacement therapy (p=0,017); ozone therapy (p=0,051) and plasmapheresis (p=0,131) did not show statistical significance. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The combination of various methods of extracorporeal detoxification helps to increase the effectiveness of treatment of patients with drug poisoning due to the acceleration of the elimination of toxic substances and reduces the degree of manifestation of organotoxic effects.

Aim: To investigate changes in oxidative stress indicators in rats under conditions of long-term ethanol exposure. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: We studied the effect of prolonged exposure to ethanol on the activity of free radical processes in the gonads of rats of both sexes. Experimental animals were divided into 2 groups: Group I (control group) rats, which were injected with distilled water orally for 28 days; II group - which for 28 days were injected intragastrically with a 30% ethanol solution at the rate of 2ml/100g of body weight once a day. RESULTS: Results: The conducted experimental studies showed that the level of free radicals increases in animals that were injected with ethanol for 28 days, as indicated by an increase in the ROS index by 1.6 times in males and 1.7 times in females. Lipid peroxidation processes are also activated, as evidenced by an increase in the level of initial products of the lipoperoxidation chain - HPL by 54.6%, intermediate products - TBP by 57.9% and final products - SHO - by 80.3% in males and by 68.2%, respectively , 80.9% and 84.6% in females. Along with this, the activity of oxidative modification of proteins in the organs of the reproductive system of the experimental group of animals also increased. In particular, the level of OMР370 in the testes of male rats increased by 89.1%, and OMР430 increased by 56.4% from the level of animals that were not given ethanol. In the ovaries of female rats, the level of OMР370 increased by 112.%, and OMР430 increased by 60.7% from the level of animals without simulating ethanol intoxication. Therefore, we were able to establish significant changes and disturbances in the processes of free radical oxidation in the organs of the reproductive system of animals under the toxic effect of ethanol, which can negatively affect the reproductive function and quality of offspring in animals that were simulated ethanol intoxication. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: In animals of both sexes, under the conditions of chronic ethanol exposure, there is an increase in free radical oxidation indicators, namely ROS, lipid peroxidation, oxidative modification of proteins, and the growth indicators in females are more significant than in males. This indicates a negative effect of chronic ethanol intoxication on the state of the membrane structures of germ cells, with DNA damage, which can lead to a violation of the function of the genital organs.

OBJECTIVE: . Aim: To examine the level of medication adherence among individuals diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Greece and Cyprus and assess the demographic, clinical, and psychosocial variables affecting it. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: An anonymous self-administered questionnaire was administered to adult patients attending hospitals and treatment centers in Greece and Cyprus. RESULTS: Results: From the total of 150 participants, 48.7% of patients took their medication when they had no symptoms, compared to 84% of symptomatic patients. For almost half of the patients, the main reason for non-adherence was daily obligations, while for 40.7% the reported reason was treatment-related side effects. 51.3% of the patients stated that they didn't require any assistance or reminders to improve their adherence. Adherence and reasons for not regularly taking medications were associated with sex, age, type, and duration of the disease as well as the type of treatment received. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: According to the findings of our study, patients perceived various obstacles, such as daily obligations and the side effects of prescribed drugs, which hindered their adherence to treatment. Adherence levels were found to be associated with demographic, disease-related, and treatment-related factors. These results underscore the importance of implementing timely and targeted interventions to enhance treatment adherence among patients with IBD.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: of the study was to find out the sexual characteristics of the development of oxidative stress in rats with high and low resistance to hypoxic hypoxia (HRH, LRH) during repeated stressful episodes of immobilization.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: The study was performed on 96 white HRH, LRH male and female Wistar rats. The animals were divided into eight groups: 1 - control (HRH, LRH) males and females, 2 - immobilization (HRH, LRH) males and females. Immobilization stress was induced by gently restraining the animals four Times by all paws and maxillary central incisors dorsally for 1 hour at an interval of 72 hours. The concentration of diene and triene conjugates (DC, TC), Schiff's bases (SB), TBA-active products (TBA-ap), activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT), reduced glutathione (GSH), activity of glutathione peroxidase (GP) and glutathione reductase (GR) were determined in the homogenate of heart. A morphological study of heart preparations stained with hematoxilin and eosin was carried out. All studies were performed in control, after 24 hours after last immobilization. RESULTS: Results: In control HRH, compared to LRH males, the values of TBA-ap were found to be lower. Under stress, an increase of LPO was noted in HRH and LRH males, only SB decreased. Higher level of LPO products noted in LRH rats compared to HRH. In control HRH females, compared to LRH, the content of DC, SB were higher and TBA-ap - lower. In HRH females, compared to HRH males, TC was higher and SB - lower. Under stress, in HRH females DC and TBA-ap were increased, TC and Sb - decreased. In LRH females all indicators increased. Lower TC and TBA-ap values were noted in HRH compared to LRH females rats. In control HRH males, compared to females, lower TC and higher values of SB were found. In LRH males, compared to females, the values of DC, TC, SB were higher. During stress, a more intensive course of LPO was noted in males. SOD in control HRH males, compared to LRH, was higher; CAT was not statistically different. Under stress, SOD decreased, CAT - increased. In HRH males, compared to LRH, in this group SOD was higher CAT - lower. In the control, HRH females, compared to LRH, had higher SOD, lower - CAT. Under stress, CAT increased in HRH females; in LRH females CAT decreased and SOD - increased. In HRH females, compared to LRH, CAT was higher. In control males, compared to females, SOD and CAT was higher. Under stress higher SOD was in females, and CAT - in males. GSH and GP were higher in control HRH compared to LRH males and females. Under stress, in males the GSH increased, GR decreased; GP in HRH decreased, in LRH it increased. HRH males, compared to LRH, GSH and GR were higher, GP - lower. Under stress, in females GSH, GP, GR in females decreased; HRH, compared to LRH, had higher GP and GH. In intact HRH males, compared to females, was higher GR and less GP; in LRH males, compared to females, GR was higher. Under stress, males had higher GSH, GP and GR values compared to females. The studied biochemical changes in the heart are accompanied by alterative changes in the structural components of the myocardium in the experimental groups. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Congenital resistance to hypoxia is associated with a greater power of the enzymatic and non-enzymatic links of the antioxidant system. Immobilization stress repeated four times with an interval of 72 hours is accompanied by the most significant increase in the content of lipid peroxidation products in the heart homogenate of lower resistant to hypoxia rats, especially males. A decrease in Schiff bases is observed in all males and highly hypoxia-resistant females. In males, a more intense accumulation of lipid peroxide oxidation products, higher catalase activity and a more active glutathione system were noted. Females have significantly higher superoxide dismutase activity. Morphological changes confirm more damage to the heart of low hypoxia-resistant rats, more males.

OBJECTIVE: Aim: The purpose was to improve the results of treatment of chronic diseases of the lower extremities veins by using endovenous high-frequency electric welding in automatic mode, and to evaluate the obtained results.. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and methods: The results of treatment of 146 patients with chronic diseases of the lower extremities veins in the period from 2018 to 2023 were analyzed. There were 87 women (59.59%) and 59 men (40.41%). Reflux in the great saphenous vein was observed in 124 (84.93%) patients, in the small saphenous vein - in 22 (15.07%). Elimination of reflux in the great and small saphenous veins was performed by the method of endovenous high-frequency electric welding using the device «High-frequency electrocoagulator EK-300M» (Ukraine) in automatic mode. The stability of occlusion in the great and small saphenous veins after endovenous high-frequency electric welding was assessed on the basis of ultrasound examination at 7 days, 1, 3, 6, 12 months and more. RESULTS: Results: The postoperative pain along the treated vein was noted in 2 (1.36%) patients, discomfort - in 124 (84.93%), feeling of a pull on the inner surface of the thigh - in 65 (44.52%), paresthesias in the thigh or lower leg - in 6 (3.57%), inflammatory infiltration along the treated vein - in 1 (0.68%), recurrence of the disease - in 2 (1.19%). Сomplete ablation was achieved in 146 (100%) operated patients. Complete ablation of veins was achieved due to the fact that the parameters of endovenous high-frequency electric welding, which, unlike endovasal laser ablation and radiofrequency ablation, are generated automatically based on the principle of feedback between the device itself and a specific level of impedance of the venous wall, ensure high-quality thermal treatment of all layers of the vein in each individual segment. The gentler energy effect of endovenous high-frequency electric welding on the vein walls compared to endovasal laser ablation and radiofrequency ablation reduces the manifestations of side effects and complications from the paravascular tissues. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: The method of endovenous high-frequency electric welding is an effective treatment of chronic diseases of the lower extremities veins, leading to complete vein ablation in 100% of cases within a follow-up period of 12 months or more.

The use of dentistry in forensic medicine has gradually become an indispensable tool in the process of identifying human remains. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the importance of this field in the identification of victims in mass disasters, criminal investigations, ethnic research, and the identification of decomposed and distorted bodies, such as drowning, fire and car accident victims. Dental examinations allow for precise determination of individual identities based on unique dental features. Various methods applied in forensic medicine in the realm of dentistry include dental impressions, radiographs, photographic examinations, rugoscopy, cheiloscopy, and molecular methods. Advanced dental analysis techniques make it possible to restore identities even in the most challenging cases. Equally important is the integration of knowledge and methods of forensic dentistry with other forensic disciplines such as molecular genetics and anthropology. Further research and development in this branch of science are crucial for improving investigative processes and ensuring the dignity of mass disaster victims. The aim of this work is to present methods using teeth for the identification of human remains along with the latest advancements in forensic DNA technology, which utilizes dental evidence to aid in the identification of human remains.

Piezosurgery in dentistry is an innovative surgical technique utilizing ultrasonic vibrations to precisely cut bone tissue while minimizing damage to surrounding soft tissues. This method is particularly advantageous for delicate procedures in oral and maxillofacial surgery, including bone graft harvesting, sinus lifts, and tooth extractions. Piezosurgery operates on the principle of piezoelectricity, discovered by Jacques and Pierre Curie in the 19th century, where a piezoelectric crystal converts oscillating electric fields into mechanical vibrations. Devices used in piezosurgery generate ultrasonic frequencies (25-30 kHz) that enable linear vibrations and controlled cutting, selective for mineralized tissues. The technology offers significant benefits over conventional surgical methods, including improved visibility, precise and smooth cuts, and a reduced risk of soft tissue damage. Clinical applications of piezosurgery demonstrate its effectiveness in preserving vital cells such as osteoblasts and osteocytes, promoting faster healing, and better osseointegration of implants. Specialized inserts and operating modes enhance its versatility for various surgical needs. Piezosurgery has shown to lower postoperative complications and enhance patient safety in complex procedures like sinus lifts and bone splitting. This advanced surgical technique represents a significant improvement in dental and oral surgery, offering enhanced precision, safety, and clinical outcomes, ultimately improving the standard of care and patient satisfaction.

Based on the analysis of information from available sources of scientific literature, the article provides an overview of the problem of abnormal uterine bleeding and its causes. Preservation of women's reproductive health is an urgent problem of the whole world. AUB is a debilitating symptom that affects a large number of women and one of the most common gynecological abnormalities. АUB, as a rule, does not threaten a woman's life, but significantly decreases its quality. Menstrual disorders affect all aspects of a woman's life, even increasing the risk of premature death. Women with AUB are more likely to seek medical care due to social and physical factors, while 50% of female patients have mental health problems due to anxiety and depression. Structural causes of uterine bleeding increase as a woman ages, which can affect reproductive health. Extragenital disorders are considered one of the most frequent causes of AUB. This is explained by the features of the endometrium, the state of which is influenced by general changes in a woman's hormonal status and the functional state of some organs and systems. AUB can be caused by diseases of the thyroid gland, uncorrected diabetes, obesity, blood coagulation disorders (most often von Willebrand's disease), infectious diseases, certain drugs (corticosteroids, antipsychotic or antiepileptic drugs), climate change and diet, psychological stress, etc. Management of patients with abnormal uterine bleeding is a complex problem that should include assessment of gynecological status and consultation of related specialists (endocrinologists, cardiologists, etc.).

OBJECTIVE: Aim: The aim of the paper was to compare the principles of music therapy and psychotherapy, pointing out numerous similarities and differences between these two techniques. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Materials and Methods: Resistance is observed, as well as the phenomenon of transference and countertransference. In either method, the therapist is a covered therapeutic mirror for the patient/client. Music therapy, unlike psychotherapy, works almost exclusively on emotions and on the symbolic layer of expression of personality. In the case of music therapy, the verbal layer plays a less significant role than in the case of psychotherapy. The clinical effectiveness of music therapy has been studied much less than that of psychotherapeutic methods. In both psychotherapy and music therapy, there is a phenomenon of transference, countertransference and resistance. CONCLUSION: Conclusions: Psychotherapy and music therapy are complementary methods in the treatment of mental and behavioral disorders.

International armed conflicts often involve the occupation of territories of the state under aggression, where some of the population begins to voluntarily cooperate with the enemy. Currently, under the legislation of certain EU countries, such actions may be deemed collaboration or treason. This article examines the scenarios faced by medical or pharmaceutical workers in occupied territories, using the example of Ukraine, which is currently experiencing armed aggression from the Russian Federation. Despite the declared norms of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), medical and pharmaceutical workers find themselves in quite difficult situations. They have taken an oath and have obligations under the Geneva Conventions and Additional Protocols, and thus are required to continue performing their professional duties during the occupation and are de jure granted medical neutrality. However, they also face limited resources, pressure, and, in some cases, their duties may involve illegal actions that could lead to legal responsibility. The study identifies when medical and pharmaceutical activities are lawful during occupation and when they may constitute unlawful behaviour that results in legal accountability. The authors conclude that the current policies of Russia and its occupation authorities deliberately violate IHL norms. Furthermore, they intentionally create conditions where individuals in occupied territories commit actions that will be recognized as crimes. It is based on dialectical, analytic, synthetic, comprehensive methods, and also uses the case-method and the method of content analysis.
